The Thai New Year festival of Songkran officially starts tomorrow (13 April) but here in Chiang Mai some water throwing has already started. To kick the clebrations of proper our friends at Radchada Garden Cafe will be throwing a Pre-Songkran party with free barbecue tonight. This year, Chiang Mai has enjoyed a very busy high season with many gay visitors. As the worldwide movements for gay equality have gained momentum and gay people are more accepted, so the scene in Chiang Mai is changing too. Many more gay people are socialising in mixed venues especially in Chaing Mai’s trendy Nimmanheaminda and Santitham areas.
