It’s March!

Hot and Hazy

March has arrived and the weather has changed, although the nights and mornings are still reasonably cool daytime temperatures are already reaching 37 degrees and there is a noticeable haze in the air. It’s not yet unpleasantly hot or smokey though. Being one of the hottest months, March is also one of the quieter months in Chiang Mai as the winter birders leave town.

March Gay Events Calendar

march calendar 240However, the last couple of weeks the Chiang Mai bar scene has continued to be quite busy. Although there have been no big event announcements this month, all the regular events continue and we have updated our events calendar with all of these until the end of March.

Regular events include Radchada’s Pizza Promotion night, Soho’s Wednesday Cheese and Wine special, weekend Cabaret Shows at Ram Bar and Sunday Roast at The Pub. Chiang Mai’s Gay saunas both have specials, House of Male with Buddy Nights on Tuesday and Thursday and Club One Seven’s special naked nights on 7, 17 and 27 of every month.

4th March is Macha Bucha day, a major Buddhist occasion and a public holiday in Thailand. Bars will be closed and alcohol is not sold on this day

Bar Scene Updates

The dynamics of the scene has changed again over the last year. In the downtown tourist area bars have moved and opened in new locations leaving places spread out rather than together. Secrets Bar and Cu bar are on the moat, near Chang Moi Road and have prospered since there move there almost a year ago.

Ram Bar is down on the river near the Muang Mai market and is drawing a good crowd for its weekend cabaret shows. Ram bar will be holding a Hat Queen’s party on 20th March to celbrate owner, Khun Wat’s birthday.

Elsewhere, at different locations with the Night Bazaar area you have Orion Bar, Ice Bar and the newly opened Ozeed bar which are drawing in a more mixed crowd.

In Chang Puek the go-go bar scene has changed little with Adam’s Apple Club continuing to be most popular. But recently, Free Guy has been often closed and the bar is for sale. Also in Chang Puek Soho Bar, Radchada Garden Cafe and Sabaidee Santitham are nice places for a social drink and something to eat.

More Thai style, the big clubs See Man Pub and G-Star Vintage are still packing in the Thai youngsters and the late night Karokes are also popular.
