News Updates

Traditionally September is the quietest, and wettest month of the year in Chiang Mai. How the weather develops will be interesting as so far this year has been very dry so a lot of rain may follow. Meanwhile, whilst their are less tourists in town, the ex-pat community still keeps the bars alive.

Gay Soi 6

The biggest news recently has been the re-opening of the new Ram Bar on Chiang Mai’s new gay soi – Chareonprathet Soi 6. More good news is that Secrets Bar is also moving in next door. The Soi is already home to Orion Bar and Ice Bar.

Common Massage

For massage lovers don’t forget to check out the new massage shop in town, Common Massage in Santitham near the New May Way go-go Bar. They seem to have an ever increasing number of cute massage boys available.

Late Night

One thing that have been curtailed in Chiang Mai during recent weeks is the late night venues. Under government orders closing times for bars (typically midnight for bars, or 1 a.m for some bigger venues) are being more rigidly enforced with regular checks by the Police. At the moment it is best to head out early. Two well known venues Grand Arena and Infinity have both temporarily closed, but See Man Pub is still open.

According to the owners, Soho bar, one of Chiang Mai’s longest established bars, will also be closing as a result of revised alcohol rules. They are currently looking for a new location.
