They think it’s all over – it is now…
It seems the final chapter in the Soho saga has now been written, as owner Shauna (read the Shauna Pugh story) has announced the permanent closure of the recently opened Soho Lounge. Shauna stated, “I will never subject myself to running another bar!”, she went on to say that having proved to herself she could run a bar with a bang it was not what she wanted in life and it was now time to do other things. She has headed to an unknown location in the mountains in search of Peace. We wish her well and hope she enjoys a well earned break.
Shauna and her partner acquired the original Soho bar, one of Chiang Mai’s longest running gay bars and something of an institution, back in 2011. Soho’s last couple of years of operation proved quite a struggle with Shauna even resorting to a crowd funding campaign in an attempt to retrieve the situation. Sadly, Soho finally went the way of the Dodo in December 2016. It was therefore a great surprise to many to see Shauna open the new Soho Lounge earlier this year after the trials and tribulations of the former business. But is seems it was not meant to be as the new venture was short lived, and Soho is now definitively closed.
