One of the nice things about Chiang Mai is that it’s still a city full of hidden surprises. One such little gem, tucked away in the back-streets of Chang Puek district, not so far from Chiang Mai University is Bird of Paradise Restaurant. Bird of Paradise opened in the middle of 2013 and has already built up quite a following. The cuisine is Thai with a modest menu of popular dishes at very reasonable prices.
The newly re-fitted venue has both indoor and outdoor areas and is spotlessly clean. Whilst the indoor part has a minimalist design theme, outdoors is supplemented with wooden structures that give a Lanna ambiance.
Bird of Paradise is gay owned and the proprietor, K. Bird may be familiar to some as he worked for many years at Balcony Bar in Bangkok’s Silom soi 4. The clientele is however, very mixed and largely made up of foreigners.
The restaurant is situated on Chiang Kian Road, which runs north from Huay Kaew Road just west of the Phucome intersection with the canal road. It is located right in front of the Flora House Condo and close to the Lanna Muay Thai boxing camp “Kiat Busaba”
If you like Thai food pop along to see Bird and his friendly staff who are sure to make you feel welcome.
