In Memory of David Crisp 1953-2009
This week marks the sixth anniversary of the senseless murder of our friend and neighbour David Crisp at his home here. A musician and teacher, originally from the UK, David had retired to live in Chiang Mai
David was bludgeoned to death by three bar boys who he’d befriended and let stay in his home.
We have already written about David’s life and death in several articles, this article from 2012 has most details about David’s life, and his talents as a musician. David was a popular participant in the ex-pat social scene in Chiang Mai, and in the gay scene. He was also involved in various musical projects, and will be particularly remembered for the “Spirit House Singers”. He is remembered and missed by many in Chiang Mai.
The three men alleged to have murdered David were apparently from the Akha hill tribe and Shan State of Burma. One Akha man is currently serving life in prison for the murder. Exactly what happened to the other two is unknown.
